Assessment and Outcomes
Throughout primary school, there are several national assessment points that help teachers and parents understand how children are progressing. These include:
- Reception: Baseline Assessment when children start school
- Year 1: Phonics Screening Check
- Year 4: Multiplication Tables Check
- Year 6: Key Stage 2 SATs
These assessments are just one part of understanding a child’s progress and achievement. At North Lancing, we use assessment information alongside teachers’ knowledge of each child to identify strengths, provide appropriate support and help every pupil achieve their potential.
Our outcomes
We are proud of the achievements of our pupils and the progress they make throughout their time at North Lancing.
In 2026:
- 88% of our Year 1 pupils passed the Phonics Screening Check, compared with 80% nationally in 2025.
- 100% of our Year 2 pupils passed the Phonics Screening Check, compared with 89% nationally in 2025.
- Year 4 pupils achieved above the national average in the Multiplication Tables Check.
- Year 6 pupils achieved outcomes broadly in line with national results in the Key Stage 2 assessments.
Our results reflect the hard work of our pupils and staff, alongside the support and encouragement provided by our families.
