Our SENCos
The role of the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCo) is highly specialist and plays an important part in ensuring that all children are able to access and enjoy their education. The role is sometimes also referred to as the Inclusion Manager.
At North Lancing Primary School, we are fortunate to have two highly experienced teachers who share responsibility for our SEN provision:
- Mrs Anneka Drummond-Davies
- Mrs Georgina Pickford
Working as a team, our SENCos coordinate support for children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) and oversee our team of teaching assistants.
Supporting every child
Our aim is to ensure that every child at North Lancing is given the support they need to thrive. We work hard to provide a stimulating, inclusive and accessible curriculum, with appropriate adaptations and additional support where needed.
We identify children who may need additional support as early as possible and work with them, their families and relevant professionals to put the right support in place.
Support may include:
- Additional or specialist teaching
- Small-group or individual interventions
- Targeted support programmes
- Classroom adaptations and resources
- Support from our teaching assistants
- Specialist advice and support from external agencies
Where appropriate, we also work with external professionals and services to provide additional expertise and support.
How can I raise a concern?
If you have a concern about your child’s learning, development or additional needs, please speak to your child’s class teacher in the first instance. They will work with you to understand your concerns and, where appropriate, refer your child to the relevant SENCo.
We believe that working in partnership with parents and carers is essential. By working together, we can make sure that children receive the right support at the right time and are given every opportunity to achieve, develop their independence and enjoy their time at North Lancing.
